Disavow File Generator
The Disavow File Generator is a free online tool that creates a properly formatted disavow file for submission to Google Search Console. A disavow file tells Google to ignore specific backlinks when assessing your website — used when you have toxic, spammy or manipulative links pointing to your site that could be triggering a Google penalty.
Google released the Disavow Tool in 2012 specifically to address situations where website owners have received spam backlinks from link schemes they did not participate in. Using this generator saves time and eliminates formatting errors that can make a disavow file ineffective.
How to Create a Disavow File
- Collect the list of toxic URLs or entire domains you want to disavow
- Enter each URL or domain in the input fields (use domain: prefix to disavow entire domains)
- Add optional comments to explain each disavowal
- Click Generate
- Download the .txt file in the correct Google format
- Upload to Google Search Console under Links > Disavow Links
When to Use Disavow
- After a manual action penalty citing "unnatural links"
- After recovering from a link scheme that earned you a penalty
- When a toxic link profile may be suppressing rankings
Use disavow with caution — it is an advanced tool. Only disavow links you are confident are harmful. Free, no login required.
